Specific Type: Shuttle Loop
|
One of Arrow Dynamics' simple designs is the traditional out and back looper. Black Pool Pleasure Beach of Lancashire England is home to such a coaster known as Irn-Bru Revolution. Irn-Bru Revolution has been operating since 1979 and features just one loop. Riders are actually inverted two times throughout the course of the ride due to traveling the whole course backwards after completing it forwards.
Making marathons on Irn-Bru Revolution could be tough as riders are required to climb up fifty-six feet of stairs to the ride's loading station each time they want to ride. The just 635 feet course of Irn-Bru Revolution takes just over a minute to complete. Guests are taken down a forty-seven foot drop straight out of the station, which is the largest drop on the ride. A maximum of four G-forces are pulled on this very simple design and these occur throughout the loop as the train passes through it relatively quickly at around forty-five miles an hour. The station of Irn-Bru Revolution sits very close to the station of Pepsi Max Big One. Once riders climb the large amount of stairs and are at the loading platform, they get a fantastic view of Avalanche in front of them as well as Steeple Chase, a triple, single car (horse) racer, directly behind them. Riders then can line up for the sixteen passenger train. Once given the all clear, the ride operator hits the button that shuttles the train out of the station and directly into a drop. A nice amount of air time is captures on this first part due to the fairly fast launch out of the station into the drop. Riders are taken through the coaster's only loop, and then back up a short hill to the coaster's midway point, a second platform. Trains sit here for a few seconds, and then are propelled backwards through the same course all over again. Riders experience what they just went through in reverse which is an all new experience to them, considering they had just gone through the same course just moments before. Once back at the loading station, riders disembark and must climb down the five stories they had climbed up in order to first get on the ride. Irn-Bru Revolution is a design that has been around for years and continues to live on in the roller coaster industry. |
