Wild Mouse

Dorney Park

Last Update: January 3, 2013

The Wild Mouse at Dorney Park is a Wilde Maus Classic model from Maurer Sohne. It is 49 feet high, 1213 feet long, and travels at speeds of 28 MPH. The cars are arranged in two rows of two seats with seven cars on the coaster. Other rides of this model by Maurer Sohne are Crazy Mine at Hansa Park, Rattlesnake at Chessington World of Adventure, and Road Runner Express at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (which has been relocated to Six Flags New England). The ride opened in the year 2000, the same year as the Woodstock Express, a kiddy coaster in the Planet Snoopy section of the park.

The location of the Wild Mouse at Dorney Park is on the main midway, across from the park's arcade, beyond which lies Talon, the park's B&M inverted coaster. Wild Mouseis also close to Hydra: the Revenge, White Water Landing, and the Wave Swinger. The entrance to the queue is facing White Water Landing. Entering the queue, you take a few turns and come to the switchbacks. The switchback area can be closed off if the crowds are light. After this segment of the queue, a ramp leads to the station building. You then enter one of six gates, two gates for each car, which speeds up loading. You then enter the car, pull down the lap bar, and strap up seatbelts.

After leaving the station, you make a 20 second pause before engaging the lift to allow the cars ahead of you (if any) to reach the first block zone. This is also where the cars are transferred to the storage track. The lift is faster than most coasters, and gets you to the top in about 15 seconds. At the top, you take a 90 degree turn to the left. After a straightaway, you then make a complete "U-Turn" to the left. After another straightaway, you make a 180 degree flat turn to the right. This pattern repeats two more times before transitioning into a very wide 270 degree turn. After hitting the brakes, the train takes two more 90 degree turns to the left. Next comes the big drop, which brings you to about three feet above the ground. You come back up and take another 90 degree turn to the left and hit another brake run. After that, a sharp 90 degree turn transitions into an S-Bend. You then drop and head into an airtime hill, which gives minimal floater air. After another 90 degree left turn, you lead into another brake run, which repeats the pattern into the final brake run. After one final 90 degree flat turn, you are back into the station. After unbuckling your seatbelt and lifting your lap bar, you exit to the right and back into the Dorney Park midway.
