What could be better than roller coasters? So would say music perhaps. In 1999 the minds at Disney combined the two to make one of the greatest rides on the planet. Rock N’ Roller Coaster opened at Disney MGM Studios with a bang. In 2001 another Disney park was looking for a new thrill. That park just happened to be Disneyland Paris. Right away, Disney directors contacted Vekoma Manufacturing to create a mirror clone of Disney/MGM Studio’s ride. On March 16, 2001 the second Rock N’ Roller Coaster opened to it’s French guests and was a smash hit. This ride also blasted the music of Aerosmith and carried their name in its title. Rock N’ Roller Coaster is Vekoma’s version of the Intamin Spaghetti bowl design. The ride is launched from 0 to 57 miles-per-hour in 2.8 seconds. The ride soars through 3, 403-feet of track while navigating numerous twists, turn, and not to mention three staggering inversions. With only three coasters by Vekoma like it on earth, the other two being Rock N' Roller Coaster and Superman: The Ride, Rock N’ Roller Coaster is sure to remain a fan favorite for many years to come.
Guests travel through the Disneyland Resort and make their way towards a wildly colored building in the distance. Once inside, they are blasted by Aerosmith songs through the impressive sound system that is located within the ride. Once inside riders prepare themselves for a wild limo ride to a concert from whom else, but Aerosmith. Restraints are secured and the train is blasted out of the station reaching a maximum speed of 57-mph. The train soars down the launch and immediately speed up into the sea serpent loop combo, flipping over with a half-vertical loop, two half-corkscrew-type inversions, and then a final half-loop. The train full of passengers speeds up into a steep curve turning the course around and swooping down towards water below. Climbing again and continuing to curve to the right, the limo enters a brief straightaway and then dive back down to curve in the opposite direction. After a 180-degree curve, thrillseekers enter the Rock N' Roller Coaster's third inversion, the corkscrew, and through 450 degrees of rightwards curvature encircling the corkscrew. After another brief straightaway, the track dives in a left-handed banked curve and then curve around, completing several hops en route to the final brake run. Once the ride comes to a complete stop, the riders exit the limo and make their way into the gift shop. Once they pick up that perfect souvenir, they exit and then have the option of taking the wild ride again. |
