Specific Type: Spinning Coaster
|
If Knott’s Berry Farm guests take an immediate right turn towards the Camp Snoopy section, they will come face to face with Sierra Sidewinder. This Mack spinning coaster incorporates 2, 4-car trains instead of the usual single car trains found on most other rides. The 63 foot tall ride is the only Mack spinning coaster in the United States, with the others being in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. The ride opened in 2007 reaches speeds of 37 MPH on its 1,411 foot long course.
16 riders board a train at a time; four riders can be seated in a car back to back. After taking an immediate right turn out of the station, riders venture up the lift hill running parallel to Montezooma’s Revenge to their left if facing up the lift, to their right if facing down. After cresting, riders take a right, downwards turn, and immediately turn to the left in a wide turn before taking the full drop to ground level. The train makes a right turn, the first part of a figure-eight type maneuver. The left turn goes on for two full revolutions before changing direction again, turning high above the waiting guests in the queue line. Riders make another right turn and slowly come to a halt in the break run. |
