SOS Numerobis
Specific Type: Tivoli

Parc Astérix has had a colorful history of building great coasters but has rarely taken any out of their lineup. This dedication to their coasters to be both new and to stay within the park could be seen throughout their history as a park by adding in new and immersive attractions decade after decade. SOS Numérobis is no different from this dedication as the ride itself has been under 3 names and has moved once for what was a new coaster, La Trace du Hourra. This Zierer Tivoli model coaster has continued through the decades with different stories, but the same classic family experience from 1990.
SOS Numérobis is themed around a stone broker as the queue entries’ sign states “Urgent need for stones? Call Numérobis!” below the coaster name with a picture of an Egyptian man in a wooden train hauling stone. SOS Numérobis starts with a right hand turn into a straight portion followed by a 19.7 foot tall lift hill. After cresting, riders plunge on a curved right drop reaching speeds up to 19.9 mph. Riders then pick up speed into the curve up cresting into a straight portion with a booster wheel set. Riders then descend in a curved left spiral that flares out into a right hand curved ascent. SOS Numérobis then takes a small dip back into the station to repeat the circuit two more times. SOS Numérobis is one of two Zierer coasters at the time of writing, the other being Le Vol D’Icare. The next time you are immersed in the atmosphere of theming in Parc Astérix, call Numérobis and take a ride on SOS Numérobis. |
