Lagoon, located in beautiful Utah, houses a diverse lineup of coasters for all ages. From the smaller coasters like Bombora, to the latest thrills with Cannibal, Lagoon has become a coaster oasis in the west. However, in 2003, a new creature took hold in the Lagoon line up. A creature, made by Maurer Rides, which deals thrills by a spinning car, spins a new web of thrills in the coaster line up, Spider. Entering the queue under this gargantuan arachnid instills fear into riders, as this coaster is primed and ready to disorient and thrill riders of all ages. Do you dare to take a spin on Spider?
Spider starts riders off with a 50.8 foot ascent to the pre drop. A quick pre drop followed by a right turn produces a spin that has a variety of chances for riders to take the plunge into the first drop. Facing backwards, forwards, or any way possible, riders take the curved drop into the Spider’s web of coaster. Flaring out riders meet a larger than life sized spider as they then make an ascended left turn into a minor brake run producing the coaster’s spin. After this another curved drop to the right ensues followed by a wave turn left. Still spinning, a swift right turn takes riders into another brake run. A swift right turn, with a small straight portion creates a sense of peace before another right turn drops riders. This small drop however takes riders into a portion of the track that is bends in a way to disorient riders even more. Another small brake run leads riders into another curved right drop, leading into a helix producing even more spinning action. Once again this leads into an incline and another brake run, lastly ending out with a curved drop right, another right turn, and an ascent into the final brake run. The interesting element in this coaster is that it spins and therefore produces different ride experiences every time riders go through the course. So the next time you are in Lagoon, climb aboard this spinning coaster and experience the thrills only found on Spider. |
