Star Mountain
Specific Type: Corkscrew
|
Star Mountain started its life as Corkscrew at Ital Park in Argentina. It was installed in 1980 and spent a decade operating there. Unfortunately it then sat SBNO for about three years before making the journey to Beto Carerro World in Brazil. It open in 1993 as Start Mountain World, but its name was shortened to simply Star Mountain in 2008. The coaster itself is a Vekoma model Corkscrew with Bayerncurve, and runs with train produced by Arrow Dynamics. The coaster has been painted combos of colors turquoise & yellow, red & white, and currently blue supports and bright orange rails. The cars have a cool hot rod style flame paint job to compliment the bright tracks.
When guests load into the trains the are looking directly up at the 75 foot tall lift hill waiting for them. At the top of the lift the train banks to the right and dops a pre drop dip and 180 degree turn before diving down the 68 foot tall main drop. The train rolls down the main drop reaching its max speed of 40 MPH, and into an airtime hill and then a banked turn. The coaster then goes into its signature maneuver, a back to back double corkscrew. The train turns around and the mid-course brake run gives a quick breath before the train does a small dive and then into the bayerncurve. The bayerncurve is a helix that changes elevation moving up and down as the train moves through the element. It is very similar to the ending helix of the Schwarzkopf double loopers like Colossus Fire Dragon at Lagoon in Utah. After the bayerncurve the train does a bunny hop into a curve and then the final brake run. Riders are returned to the station and they depart Star Mountain the “Radical” coaster at Beto Carerro. |
