Specific Type: Suspended Family Coaster
|
Watch out for the tumbleweed and sandstorms as you visit Frontier City in Oklahoma City. This small and very unique park is themed after the Wild West and gives every member of the family something to do as fun awaits all ages. The park has multiple coasters that will appeal to everyone in your family. One coaster you will want to try out is Steel Lasso. Every member of the family can board this family oriented coaster for the time of their life.
Steel Lasso was built in 2008 as the park was celebrating their 50th anniversary. The park had many festivals and events that were scheduled throughout the year and Steel Lasso was opened to witness it all. Fans flocked to the new coaster to get a chance to ride the park’s only inverted coaster. Steel Lasso was designed by Vekoma as a standard inverted family coaster. The ride was built by Chace-Morgan Rides in the United States. The ride has a standard figure eight out and back layout with standard braking systems at the end of the ride. Passengers board the blue Vekoma trains and take off their sandals as they prepare to be lifted up the standard chain lift to 49 feet. Once the train reaches the top, riders are dropped to the right looking like you will run right back into the station when you are whipped suddenly to the left all while putting a boot to the sky. After the sharp left turn the train heads back to the right and then left again before doing an about face. The train finishes the 965 foot course with some zig zag in and out turns before the grand finale. The train goes into a final helix before slowing at the brakes bringing the train back into the station. There is only one train on this coaster due to the short track. While in Oklahoma City, make sure that you hit up the newest and ONLY inverted steel coaster in the state. Children and adults will love the short and twisty ride on Steel Lasso! |
