The Dark Knight at Six Flags Great Adventure is an indoor Mack Wild Mouse (compact mobile, rev. 2), that replaced a duel Premier shuttle coaster Batman and Robin: the Chiller. It is themed to the movie Dark Knight, that was released the same year, 2008. The ride is 45 feet tall, reaches speeds of 28 MPH, and travels over 1213 feet of track. It is a mirror image of Wild Mouse at Hersheypark in Hershey, PA. The Dark Knight has eight cars, each arranged in two rows of two people. They are themed to look like subway trains, with a GCR (Gotham City Railroad) symbol on the front of the vehicle.
Entering the park, you walk through Main Street and turn right at the end of it. The ride is right next door to Batman: the Ride and Nitro in the Movietown section of the park. Entering the queue, you wind your way through shrubbery and fountains. When you enter the switchback area, you can watch the park's television channel. After that, you head into the building, where there is a pre-show showing Harvey Dent speaking to the media. Following the main part of the pre-show, the famous quote, "WHY SO SERIOUS!" is projected very loudly to the audience. The door to the station area opens. Before boarding the vehicle, you walk past a screen that shows the people in line, but, when they smile, a joker face engulfs their own. After boarding and applying your restraint, you take a flat turn to the left which leads to the lift. At the top of the lift, an arrow flashes to the left, but you take a right instead and go through six flat turns going in opposite directions. During this time, you whiz past graffiti left by the Joker. After a wide, 270 degree turn to the right, you go through a straightaway and into a block section. After another turn, you take a big drop and go back up into another turn and S-Bend. This leads into a small airtime hill which makes you laugh. This is also where the on-ride photo is taken. You then take another turn into the brakes. Before entering the station, a train horn blasts beside you with special strobe effects to give the illusion that you are about to be run over by a train. You also hear it throughout the ride. After exiting, you emerge into the gift shop where you can purchase the ride photo and various accessories. |
