Kentucky, being a state known for it’s beautiful horse tracks and pastoral pastures, one would hardly think this state would also be home to the incredible thrills of Kentucky Kingdom. Kentucky Kingdom, plagued with changing hands and the loss of various attractions, has always been a place for families to come together and experience intense thrills. This desire to keep families coming back led to the creation of the only Dinn Corporation wooden coaster to ever strike Kentucky Kingdom,Thunder Run.
Thunder Run was the first of what will be the three weather related coasters at Kentucky Kingdom; Thunder Run, Lightning Run, and Storm Chaser, each being different, yet exciting experiences. This thunderous coaster takes riders up 90 feet into the air, only to drop them 74 feet to the ground hurdling at speeds up to 53 mph. Instantly flaring out into the first curve, guests are swept away by the power of this wooden coaster. From the curve, Thunder Run takes riders through various air time moments that makes Thunder Run into the coaster it is known for. As the ride flares out with small air time hills, and quick curves, Thunder Run blends these elements perfectly to create the sensation of riding on a storm. This coaster reigns supreme as the only wooden coaster still standing at Kentucky Kingdom, and yet it still packs a punch. The next time you are in Kentucky, make sure to visit Kentucky Kingdom and face the weather phenomena that is Thunder Run. |
