In 1993 Silver Dollar City decided it was time to get a new roller coaster! It had been many years since the last roller coaster was added to the park. For the new roller coaster the park turned to Arrow Dynamics, builder of many world record breaking roller coasters! Arrow had been responsible for the biggest roller coasters of its time like Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point and Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Built in the Valley Road section of the park, Riders are loaded into a roller coaster train. Each car sits 2 people across with three rows per car. The train has 6 cars. Thunderation is a Mine Train Roller Coaster that uses the terrain of the land to its advantage. Thunderation is a family roller coaster that is themed as a run-away mine train! Thunderation is 81 feet tall and there is no drop on this ride! Riders will twist and turn in and out over and through the hills of Silver Dollar City! |
