Timberline Twister
Specific Type: Kiddy Coaster
|
Knott's Berry Farm is home to a quite large roller coaster collection and is home to some unique ones as well. Among these unique roller coasters is their older style kiddie coaster known as Timberline Twister. Timberline Twister was built by Bradley and Kaye and has been operating at Knott's since 1983. The small compact coaster is not very big, but is enjoyed by many young ones between the heights of thirty-six inches and sixty-nine inches. The coaster is located just to the right of the main park entrance inside of Camp Snoopy.
The junior size coaster features a double out and back layout, reaches a height of thirty feet, and lasts just under a minute at fifty-five seconds. Trains consists of three flat, sled shaped cars that each hold six people (2 rows, 3 across), accommodating up to eighteen riders per load. Riders are taken out of the station, around a ninety degree turn to the left, and then up the small lift hill. Once atop, they are taken around 180 degrees and then down and over a couple of fifteen foot hills to another 180 degree turn-around. Following this is a few more bunny hills, which lead into the ride's final 180 degree turn around. Once around this, the home stretch consists of a few more very small hills. A quick ninety degree turn to the left puts riders back into the station where they started less than a minute ago. Timberline Twister continues to attract children of many ages as well as adults under sixty-nine inches who do not enjoy the bigger roller coasters of the park. |
