Tremors
Specific Type: Wooden

After the success of Timber Terror, the people at Silverwood Theme Park decided to add another scream machine to their coaster lineup. Once again they turned to the folks at Custom Coasters International to design another classic wooden coaster, but they didn't want the tallest, fastest, or longest coaster. They wanted something unique that had never been seen before. Land was not a problem for the park, but coming up with something original was, which is when someone came up with the idea of going under the ground instead of over it. Immediately CCI and Silverwood knew that was the perfect idea and started planning a coaster that would put it's riders under the ground a total of four times. On May 5, 1999 Tremors opened to the public, themed around the 1990 movie "Tremors" by MCA Universal. The coaster has quite a unique feature that is only available on this coaster, the train actually exits a tunnel right through the middle of the gift shop floor. Tremors reaches speeds of 60 mph in 3000 feet of track. It contains 4 underground tunnels and riders face 2.5 g's as they swerve and twist over the landscape of Silverwood Theme Park.
Tremors begins with a climb up an 100 foot tall lift hill. From there, the train rounds a corner and approaches the 103 foot first drop, where it plunges underground and rips out through the gift shop floor. You'll float in the open air for a few seconds after navigating a camel back hill before dropping into the 2nd of 4 underground tunnels. At this point the train is a blur moving at 60 mph. The train barrels out of the second tunnel and navigates a helix, ending with the train flying over a few camel backs. Up ahead riders notice a sign that reads "Bridge out". Tremors provides a ton of head choppers and a broken support is the last thing you expect to get inches from your head. The train barrels past the bridge and hits the far end of the track, which goes into a great dipping turnaround. Once the train is heading back towards the station riders once again experience more camelbacks and tons of airtime. The third tunnel waits ahead, where riders catch a quick ray of sun before plunging back into the fourth and final tunnel on the ride. Upon exit of the fourth tunnel, a high-speed turnaround awaits. Finally, the train hits the brakes and everyone can finally catch their breath |
