Georgia is known for being one of the greatest states in the South to live and for coaster enthusiasts; the area could be for you as well. Everyone knows about Six Flags over Georgia, but there is also a hidden gem in the city of Valdosta called Wild Adventures. One of the most exciting coasters at this small park is Twisted Typhoon. This coaster is your standard Vekoma Suspended Looping Coaster and was built in the park in 1999. Herschend Parks and Entertainment operates the park today and they changed the name of the coaster in 2011 from what it used to be. The coaster operated as Hangman from its opening until the end of 2011.
When the coaster was constructed, the color scheme was Red but when the name was changed, they repainted the coaster to a green. The classic SLC reaches a height of 109 feet and reaches speeds of up to 49 mph. The trains go along a track that measures over 2,260 feet of twisting and flipping throughout the course. Elements on the coaster include a roll over, sidewinder, and a double in-line twist. Come along with us now as we take you on a virtual ride on a classic SLC! As riders enter the tree lined queue area, you barely know that there is a coaster that is all around you. The roller coaster itself is very quiet as she spins around and upside down. As you enter the station area, one of two trains hits the brakes and you plop yourself in the classic Vekoma seats. The train exits the station and goes straight up the 109 foot lift hill. At the top, the train veers to the right and angle drops into a roll over element. The coaster turns to the right and into a sidewinder element and directly into a double in-line twist as you get the feeling of head chopping going through the maze of coaster track. The train ends with a helix to the right before heading into the final brake run. The next time you are in Valdosta Georgia enjoying some of that Southern home cooking, make sure you make a trip to ride Twisted Typhoon. |
