Whirlwind
Specific Type: Spinning Coaster
|
There is change on the winds… new experiences, surprises, and dizziness. The Whirlwind at Seabreeze gives riders a new spin on a very modern ride in this classic amusement park. Whirlwind is a Spinning Coaster (SC2000) Model manufactured by Maurer Rides. This twisted track delivers a different ride experience every time you ride it since your position can be changed as the cars move through the different elements. This particular coaster used to be a traveling coaster in Europe before it was installed at Seabreeze in 2004. The coaster has single cars, each car holds four guests, two facing forward and two facing backwards. When the car leaves the station it is locked and cannot spin, so you can experience the first section of the ride facing forward or backwards before the cars free spin.
The ride starts with a climb up the lift hill to a height of 50.8 feet since guests are back to back where you sit will give you a different perspective. At the top the ride makes a quick turn and dives down the curved 50 degree drop at 37.3 MPH. From there the track rises and banks again, when it levels out the cars unlock and begin to spin freely. From that point on the ride is a blur. The track rises and drops always in banked turns and helixes around the 1,391.1 feet of the circuit. Cars are still spinning as the ride enters the brake run, and finally the car locks and return you to the station. Riders are left dizzy and confused, possibly wondering where their lunches went. |
