Specific Type: Dark Ride
|
Wonder Mountain, the centerpiece of Canada's Wonderland just outside of Toronto has long been home to the park's Mack powered family coaster, Thunder Run. If legend is to be believed however, there is a much older, much more sinister tenant holding residence in the mountain.
Guests desiring to know more will find the entrance to the ride in a secret passage on the left hand side of the mountain. Once into the dark recesses of Wonder Mountain video screens will inform the the intrepid adventurers of what will await them should they continue. The great dragon Ormaar reigns within the innermost caverns, hoarding over a great treasure of gold and jewels, as well as the crown of a great king who once unsuccessfully tried to defeat him. Ormaar killed the king, and you are now challenged to succeed where he failed. Seated eight to a train and armed with laser guns, you are sent off on a quest to defeat the dragon who rules Wonder Mountain. A right hand turnaround lines up the vehicles with the short chain lift outside of the Mountain's facade. Upon topping out, the track banks to the right, gently dropping a few feet above the pull out of Vortex's first drop then rising again and turning back into the depths of the mountain. A curtain closes, cloaking the ride's passengers in darkness. The car's rotate side ways and start to slowly move along their track. At this point, the ride becomes your typical dark ride shooter. You progress through five different levels, where you must blast your way past the Ormaar's guards and minions. Eventually you reach the treasure room and are confronted by the great dragon himself. Many shots are fired and the beast rear's his head and levels his fiery breath at the train. Suddenly you plunge away, escaping the dragon, and live to fight another day. Video boards showcase your score on the final break run. You disembark, having survived your encounter with Wonder Mountain's Guardian. |
