In 1975 Carowinds opened their first wooden coaster, then named Scooby-Doo, a junior wooden coaster model designed by John Allen. This coaster was the third time this model was used after the success of Kings Island & Kings Dominions Scooby-Doo coasters, and Canada’s Wonderland would build one as well in 1981.  Over its history the ride would be rethemed, named and painted several times: Scooby-Doo from 1975-1993, Scooby-Doo’s Ghoster Coaster from 1993-2004, Fairly Odd Coaster from 2005-2009,  and finally Woodstock Express from 2010 to the present. This coaster used to hold the distinction of being an ACE Coaster Classic, however this honor was rescinded when changes were made to the trains.

The riders board their trains two per row, two rows per car, and five cars per train. The buzz bars lock into position and the train creeps out of the station in a slow right hand turn to line up with the 40 foot tall lift hill. The train glides down the main drop of this figure eight coaster at a family friendly 36 MPH. The coaster ascends and negotiates a turnaround and drops again towards the lift where is goes over a bunny hill and up into another turn around. It repeats arounds itself and  delivers the train back to the station to conclude its 1,356 foot long circuit.
