I was sitting in class today daydreaming about being on one of my favorite Cedar Point roller coasters and there was this terrible rumbling in my stomach. I then said to myself, “Hey, what a great time to write part two of my food blog. So here it goes. I hope you enjoy. When you take the drive to scenic Sandusky, Ohio, you never would believe that one of the greatest thrill parks in the world sits on a peninsula that stretches into Lake Erie. This, however, is very true as Cedar Point, America’s Roller Coast, is full of thrills, screams, and yes even great food! I am going to break the food establishments down into breakfast, lunch, and dinner options as I did with Kings Island. So let us begin with an alarm clock waking us up. Many people choose to just eat a healthy breakfast before coming to the park, but just in case you are in a rush, the park offers plenty of choices to perk you up for a day of long walking and intense riding. As you enter the park, you will notice the smell of fresh, out of the oven donuts and muffins at Donut Time. This quaint café has it all. You can get a nice cup of steaming coffee, and iced latte, and of course DONUTS! There is a fine assortment everyday ranging from glazed to specialty items like cookies and low fat muffins. If you are like most normal coaster enthusiasts, walking around the park and riding the rides makes you very hungry. It may not even be time for lunch yet, but you are craving something to hold you over. There are so many vendors that will have you smiling from ear to ear. There are Bavarian pretzels, Cheese on a Stick, Corn Dogs, French Fries, and even a great thing called a Churro. Every time I am in the park, I get something different. The prices are reasonable for most items and can hold me over as we usually only eat one big meal inside the park. You also have some novelty items such as Top Chill which is great on those hot summer days. Top Chill is a flavored ice that will get you geared up while watching the launches of Top Thrill Dragster. After a grueling morning, it may be time to sit down and rest and eat a decent meal for lunch. There are many establishments for every guest to enjoy their rest time. You can start by heading over to the Chuck Wagon near Maverick. This Western Themed restaurant has all of the food that made the West wild. Barbecue pork, fried chicken, potato wedges are just some of the items you can sink your teeth into. Do not forget to get an ice cold beer to wash that down with! If Western isn’t your thing, head on over to Coaster’s Drive Inn. This diner 1950s Diner inspired eatery has all of the diner classics from malts, shakes, and sodas to the great burgers and steak fries that all people love. The place is decked out with cool cars and black and white checkered floor. If you are looking for some entertainment while you eat, maybe you should check out Johnny Rockets. This eatery is filled with the American Classics but in an upscale fashion. The staff will suddenly break out and dance at different times throughout the day and surprise everyone. This is truly getting your money’s worth. New to Cedar Point is Pink’s. This famous place is known for their chili dogs and great sandwiches like the Brooklyn Pastrami. Just look for the giant hotdog at the front of the park. These are just a few of the many options awaiting you for lunch. Dinner is often the hardest choice for many theme park guests. Some like to leave early and get dinner out of the park, but that is not necessary as the park has MANY options at reasonable prices. One place we often go is the Gameday Grille. I compare this to a TGIFridays. It has great sit-down food at a decent price. You can have steak, ribs, chicken tenders and many other entrée items and of course bottomless drinks. There are multiple TV’s for sports entertainment as well. Another choice for many is the all-you-can-eat buffet called the Midway Market. I do not think this one is as good as the one at Kings Island, however the price is good for the food that you get. This is a great option for those who may just want to eat one big mean in the park. You may want to go to the usual places like Subway, Panda Express, or even Joe Cool Café which has Pizza Hut inside as well. These are all quick and great dinner options, but be prepared for higher prices than what you are used to paying at home. If you plan on going outside of the park, there are a number of places near the park. Your choices include Famous Daves BarBQ which is best known for their outstanding ribs, or you can go to Perkins for great family fare and even breakfast. You can even look for an entertaining dinner experience at Tomo Hibachi where they will cook the food in front of you with flare! As you can see there are many options to try at Cedar Point. The park is not only known for its record breaking coasters. So this year as you make your way into the park, not only will you see the Keeper of the Gate, but also an assortment of food and drink that will please almost anyone who enters the park.
