Kemah BoardwalkLocation: Kemah, TX

Whether you love walking and smelling the salty ocean air, or eating a pile of Bubba Gump Shrimp, you will definitely want to make your way to Kemah, Texas and check out the Kemah Boardwalk. Boasted as one of the finest boardwalks in the United States, Kemah has a little bit of everything to offer. The boardwalk is a 60 acre Gulf Coast destination. Tourists and locals come from all around to shop in the many shops, eat at the restaurants, and take a ride on one of the most compact wooden coasters in the world. The entire Kemah complex is owned and operated by Landry’s Inc. The company acquired land along the coast in 1999 and began building the now famous boardwalk.
In 2007, the company wanted to add even more excitement and attractions so they came up with the plan to build a roller coaster on the boardwalk. The Boardwalk Bullet was built by Martin & Vleminckx and the Gravity Group and has one of the smallest footprints of a wooden coaster anywhere in the world. The coaster boasts a height of 96 feet and spans 3,236 feet of track. The amazing part of this is that it’s all on 1 acre of land. The boardwalk also features a swing ride, train, and mini Ferris wheel along with other carnival type attractions. The rides and attractions take tickets that you can buy separately or you can buy and all day wristband. If rides and attractions aren’t you thing, you can enjoy the great shopping among a numerous amount of shops along the boardwalk. There are plenty of places to eat when you get hungry including Bubba Gump Shrimp and the Saltgrass steakhouse. If you are more for the water sports, you can charter a yacht for the day or park your boat in one of the many slips along the baordwalk. No matter your pleasure, you are sure to find it at the Kemah Boardwalk. Everything is done bigger in Texas, and this boardwalk is exactly that. |
