The iconic Timber Wolf roller coaster has reopened at Worlds of Fun with a new track layout. After months of construction and major renovations, the thrill ride now features a new finale that sends riders nearly sideways through an intense 70-degree banked turn. Timber Wolf's new twisted ending is one of many enhancements the classic wooden roller coaster has received since 2014. Worlds of Fun has now re-engineered approximately 50-percent of the ride's original track, from the first 100-foot drop through the new turn. Investments on the coaster are expected to continue through 2021. "Since its debut in 1989, Timber Wolf has been a park icon and a long-time staple of Kansas City," said Tony Carovillano, general manager of Worlds of Fun. "These investments ensure the ride continues to deliver an action-packed experience to a new generation of thrill seekers, and the new high-speed finale definitely gives guests a new reason to fall in love with the ride." Hold onto your flip-flops and your trucker hats: Six Flags Great America opened today at 10:30 a.m. This year, the amusement park in Gurnee, Ill., is introducing its 16th roller coaster, called the Mardi Gras Hangover. Presumably, the name comes from the intense "hang" time riders will experience rather than the way they'll feel after exiting the ride. The Mardi Gras Hangover is the world's largest loop roller coaster. It propels riders 360 degrees forward and backward and lets them hang upside down for a few moments. You sit facing other riders, so you'll be able to watch your dad curse you for talking him into going on the ride with you. The roller coaster opens Saturday. FULL STORY Orlando, FL

The so-far unnamed ride is under construction now at the park, which sits southwest of the junction of Interstate 70 and Sheridan Boulevard next to Lake Rhoda. Lakeside, located in a city of the same name, first opened as White City in 1908. The coaster will be all metal and is on pace to open sometime in June, Lakeside marketing director Bill Koller said this week. It will be roughly 1/3 the size of park’s marquee coaster — the bone-shaking, all-wood 1940s classic Cyclone — and located on the south end of the park, near the old race track.
