After Legoland New York Resort’s plans to open last July were delayed by the coronavirus (COVID-19), the epic 150-acre theme park could open as soon as next month, as long as it follows state guidelines. The park, located in Goshen, N.Y. — about 60 miles away from New York City — hasn’t yet announced an opening date. But it could open as early as April 9, the date that Gov. Six Flags New England’s rides haven’t been running in over a year, and now dinosaurs are invading. “Dinosaurs: A Walk Thru Experience” includes 20 life-size dinosaurs with “life-like movement and sound,” a dinosaur puppets, a virtual dinosaur hunt and other themed games. “Guests are invited to experience a one-way dinosaur adventure in accordance with the state of Massachusetts’ reopening guidelines,” Six Flags New England said in a statement. An amusement park that closed here 18 months ago is expected to reopen under new ownership. Clementon Park and Splash World will be revived later this year by an Indiana firm that bought the regional attraction for more than $2.6 million, according to a party involved in the sale. In just over two weeks, thousands of visitors had already taken a ride on the bright new trains on the 200-plus-foot tall Big Apple Coaster at the New York-New York Hotel and Casino. Jurassic World coaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park has found itself facing that age-old problem of loose raptors. Poised to be Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster when it debuts at Universal Orlando Resort this summer, the aptly named VelociCoaster has been disturbed by birds of prey since track construction began last year. Osprey, a protected species of large raptors native to the region, have been embarking on the fruitless effort of building nests in its “top hat” ascent for months, continually attempting to take up residence in the future path of a 70 mile-per-hour predator-themed attraction.
