PRESS RELEASE:
Today, SeaWorld Orlando revealed the first of 15 custom rafts for its new Infinity Falls river rapids attraction opening summer 2018. The 8-passenger raft features custom theming and décor resembling supplies found on real white-water rafting expeditions. The circular raft design puts riders face-to-face and allows friends and family to enjoy this exhilarating attraction together. Aboard the raft, riders will embark on an adventure through a lush rainforest environment inspired by some of the world’s most incredible freshwater ecosystems. The new attraction will feature the world’s tallest drop on a river raft ride and allow visitors to experience the feel of exhilarating rapids. The ride will also feature an innovative elevator lift designed to transport the rafts to the top of the ride’s 40-foot drop. Infinity Falls will be the first attraction at SeaWorld to tell a story beyond the ocean and share a message of water conservation through the adventure of a white-water river expedition. This is just one example of the park’s new “Park to Planet” initiative, a mission to help guests understand some of the challenges facing the planet and inspiring them to help. The new attraction will be the centerpiece of a newly themed area designed to resemble the basecamp of explorers and scientists. After riding Infinity Falls, the entire family can explore the village and take part in interactive experiences that combine play with education to create a positive impact on freshwater ecosystems, reinforcing “Park to Planet” in real time. SeaWorld’s Animal Ambassadors will also provide up-close encounters with animals native to South America.

PRESS RELEASE:
The inventors and designers of Silver Dollar City’s ground-breaking roller coaster Time Traveler today revealed the ride’s first vehicle, which will make its much-anticipated debut at the Branson, Missouri-based theme park in Spring 2018. Before continuing its journey to Branson, the vehicle made a stop on the show floor of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando, which each year draws more than 32,000 attendees from around the world for the amusement industry’s largest convention. Reflecting the global nature of the event, a huge crowd of media and industry leaders gathered at the Mack Rides booth. Representatives from the German-based manufacturer and the American-based theme park together pulled back a curtain to unveil the vehicle, which dramatically emerged from a cloud of fog and was met with cheers and applause. The Time Traveler vehicle is part of an innovative project currently underway at the 1880s-themed park, which will present the “World’s Fastest, Steepest and Tallest Complete-Circuit Spinning Roller Coaster” in a few short months. The vehicle, which is the first of four cars that will be positioned on each of three trains, resembles a time-traveling machine. The highly stylized Time Traveler features gears, cogs and other industrial components as part of its décor. Beyond its specialized look, the most cutting-edge feature of the vehicle is its 360-degree adjustable magnetic spin control. “The car is the most advanced roller coaster car in the industry, featuring a free-spinning rotation on a launched roller coaster,” said Christian von Elverfeldt, CEO of Mack Rides, the ride’s manufacturer. “For the utmost comfort, an on-board magnetic brake limits the rotation speed to allow the most enjoyable ride experience for all ages.” Riders will need to be at least 51 inches tall, which opens the ride to a multitude of ages and allows it to complement Silver Dollar City’s commitment to entertaining the whole family. The game-changing vehicle allows riders to experience two simultaneous thrills: a roller coaster car moving along a track, but also a spinning component that provides a different ride each time … and does not result in the whirling sensation some riders feel on a standard “teacup ride.” At an investment of $26 million, Time Traveler is Silver Dollar City’s biggest attraction ever. “The interest in Time Traveler has been monumental from the perspective of guests, coaster enthusiasts and the industry,” said Brad Thomas, President of Silver Dollar City Attractions. “Our goal is to make a global statement with a ride like no other.” The custom-designed Time Traveler will break several world records:
PRESS RELEASE:
S&S Worldwide, Inc. is pleased to announce the return of a classic Arrow Dynamics ride, the Steeplechase Coaster. Although the very first Steeplechase Coaster appeared at Steeplechase Park in New York in 1896, the Arrow remake of the Steeplechase Coaster first debuted as a cycle themed ride in 1976 at Knott’s Berry Farm. The second Steeplechase Coaster opened just a year later as a horse themed ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in the U.K. and is still in operation 40 years later, and is as popular today as the day that it opened. S&S Worldwide, Inc. purchased Arrow Dynamics in 2002 and coaster enthusiasts have long inquired as to if S&S would ever revive the classic Arrow brand and bring back some of the vintage Arrow coasters. Depending on the response from parks, the Steeplechase Coaster is the first of what could be the rebirth of the Arrow Dynamics product line. Director of Sales, Pete Barto said, “The market is ready for the return of classic family rides, ones that bring an entire family together to have fun and one that provokes memories of times long gone in this fast-paced digital world.” Staying true to the original ride experience was paramount to the re-launch of Steeplechase, but updating the restraint system to today’s standards and designing it in a way that would allow the most guests to enjoy the ride safely was critical. Having an opportunity to review the original design plans and then see the ride in operation at Blackpool Pleasure Beach proved helpful. Using today’s technology, many modifications and updates were made to the new Steeplechase Coaster design to provide a smooth and reliable ride for all guests. With a 42” (1.1m) minimum rider height, the relaunch of the Steeplechase will allow many more guests to enjoy than the original ride. Other enhancements to the new Steeplechase Coaster include a Mobius loop layout with a station bypass to allow for increased load/unload times while not impacting hourly capacity, multiple vehicle theming options, and some patent-pending changes to the lift system. President and CEO of S&S Worldwide, Inc., Tim Timco, said “The Steeplechase Coaster is really about the evolution of a classic. There is not another ride on the market that can match the benefits and wide appeal to a park that this ride can offer. We are confident it will be a hit!” |
