Legoland New York was originally planning to open their doors to guests on July 4th this summer. However that is no longer the plan. Today they announced that in accordance with local health and safety guidance on the Coronavirus outbreak. Legoland has had to persevere with numerous construction delays on several occasions, this one will prove too great to have a 2020 operating year. The park will open their gates for the first time at a yet to be determined date in 2021. The park is advising any guest that pre purchased day tickets for the 2020 season that they will be honored in the 2021 season. They same courtesy will be extended to guests who purchased 2020 season passes, they will be honored throughout the entire 2021 season. If you have booked a vacation you will have the opportunity to change it. Legoland is also offering the guests the opportunity to upgrade and receive in park retail credit. Once the park does open it will be the third Legoland property in North America joining Legoland Florida and California. The New York location was projected to cost $350 million and is Merlin Park’s largest investment into the North American market. The park will cover 520 acres and have a 250 room Lego themed hotel.  Orlando-based marine theme park operator SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: SEAS) said in an SEC filing on March 27 that it temporarily will furlough 90% of its workforce companywide as of April 1.
The workers will not receive compensation during the furlough period. The company said the length of time for the furlough is unknown. SeaWorld temporarily closed up its theme park operations in mid-March as many other major theme park companies also began to shutter due to the catastrophic impact the coronavirus has had on the tourism industry. Industry association IAAPA has asked Congress for relief in the form of "a $250 billion Travel Workforce Stabilization Fund within the Department of Treasury for travel related industries, including $150 billion in direct grants, and $100 billion in unsecured, no-interest loans." SeaWorld today tweeted asking the public to ask Congress to support the theme park industry. Both Cedar Point and Kings Island have announced the opening of their 2020 season will be postponed due to concerns surrounding the spread of coronavirus. Cedar Point was initially scheduled to kick off their 150th anniversary season on Saturday, May 9, while Kings Island -- which is preparing to debut its new Orion roller coaster -- was slated to open Saturday, April 11. Although no official opening date was given for either park, officials are hopeful both properties will open by "mid-May or as soon thereafter as possible." Denver’s Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park has received $124.6M in refinancing. The refinancing was announced by JLL Capital Markets, which arranged it on behalf of the borrowers, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment and Revesco Properties. The five-year loan is with Pacific Western Bank. Per JLL, the loan proceeds will be used to fund pre-development work for the massive revamp planned in the area, and will retire existing debt. Commissioners on Tuesday upheld a decision to give Wild Water West the go-ahead to build a roller coaster. Wild Water West was in front of the county planning commission in February, and the board recommended approval. The planning commission's decision was appealed by a resident and nearby business owner Josh Nelson who had concerns regarding decibel level at the property line, which brought the request to the full commission. Nelson, an owner of Blue Haven Barn and Gardens, told commissioners he wasn't opposed to the roller coaster, but he was concerned about the potential noise level construction and the coaster itself would bring, and how it would impact events at the venue. The White County Commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday night to offer up to $3 million in incentives for any potential buyer of Indiana Beach.
