Legoland New York is scheduled to open its gates this year. The 150-acre theme park is the first major theme park to open in the area in over 40 years. Construction is still ongoing on the park’s final touches as it nears competition for its 2021 grand opening. Six Flags Entertainment Corporation says it is planning to open all 26 of its amusement parks and water parks for the 2021 season, including five that were not able to operate last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The company said it worked with epidemiologists to develop a reopening plan that "meets or exceeds federal, state, and local guidelines for sanitization, hygiene, and social distancing protocols."

​The local group that owns the Kentucky Kingdom-Hurricane Bay amusement and water park plans to sell it to a "big player" in the theme park business after a punishing drop in business during the pandemic, state officials said Monday.
While state officials did not reveal the new owner, the operating company that plans to assume Kentucky Kingdom's lease on state property is registered in Georgia with an address matching that of Herschend Family Entertainment, which operates theme parks and other attractions in multiple states.

The new West Coast Customs Cruis’n the Park Car Show at Six Flags Magic Mountain will offer a contactless experience that follows CDC, state, and county health and safety guidelines. To prevent overcrowding and provide proper social distancing, a limited number of cars will be allowed each date.

Event requirements include use of masks if windows are down, no smoking, littering, stopping, or exiting vehicles. Due to the limited size of certain areas and terrain within the park, only cars, SUVs, vans, and pick-up trucks are permitted. No convertibles, busses, RVs, commercial vehicles, dually pick-up trucks, trailers, or motorcycles will be allowed. A maximum speed of three mph and maintaining a safe distance between cars will be strictly enforced.
As part of Six Flags’ comprehensive safety procedures, all employees are required to wear masks and are temperature-checked and health-screened each day. Gloves are worn as appropriate, per guidelines. As directed by current state regulations, no additional services will be available. Six Flags encourages guests to plan accordingly for restroom breaks, gasoline, and food. Only portable toilets will be available at the entrance and exit.

Amusement parks, indoor family entertainment centers, and summer camps will be able to plan to reopen in the coming weeks, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday said. 
The indoor family entertainment centers can reopen on March 26 at 25% capacity, with social distancing rules and temperature checks in place. Rides and attractions in which social distancing cannot be maintained must remain closed. 
Amusement parks can reopen on April 9 at 33% capacity and pre-sale tickets sold in advance.

Waterloo community planning director, Noel Anderson, said the construction team is making great strides. He also said he is excited about the opportunities the park will bring to the city.
"There will be 300 plus new jobs in the summer time, 30 permanent jobs," Anderson said, "but also the tourism aspect of helping the casino helping the water park in terms of bringing in more of a regional draw."
