 There were few things Ethan Lindenberger didn’t like about his part-time job. Working in the arcade at an amusement park in Ohio, the college student played virtual reality games on his breaks and bonded with coworkers, some of whom are now his closest friends. He excelled at communicating with customers, selling passes, and repairing the machines, especially when they ran out of tickets.
Once, he said, the park introduced a friendly competition among employees to encourage guests to post Facebook reviews of the arcade — workers were offered a small monetary reward for each review they prompted — and so many of the reviews could be attributed to him that management limited his payout, which would have totaled $800. This is one slide that's not an official attraction at the Six Flags Great Escape water park in Upstate New York. A Springfield woman is suing Six Flags over a 2019 incident where she slipped on a hill covered in "geese feces" and broke her ankle, according to a lawsuit filed last week in U.S. District Court. The woman was visiting the Queensbury, N.Y., resort with her family in July 2019 when she was injured. While enjoying the indoor water park, the woman asked a Six Flags employee for directions to the outdoor water park, which is located across a local highway from the Great Escape hotel. The employee directed her out an emergency exit leading to a small, grassy hill, the lawsuit says. Thomas Iven, who previously served as Six Flags’ senior vice president of park operations, was appointed to the position Monday following unanimous approval from SeaWorld’s Board of Directors.
Iven, 62, replaces Walter Bogumil, whose employment was terminated Sunday. “We are excited to have Tom join the SeaWorld team as we continue to drive the business forward and emerge an even stronger company post COVID-19,” SeaWorld CEO Marc Swanson said in a statement. “Tom brings significant theme park operating experience and a long, successful operating track record. A new name, new attractions and, by next month, an open waterpark. That's what new owner Gene Staples says is in store for Fantasy Island. First though, extensive damage from vandalism throughout the park will need to be repaired. That process has already begun, and a security team made up of off-duty police and sheriff's officers is in place to keep new vandals out. "They kicked in every door, 90% of the windows were smashed.
