The White City, so named for the alabaster substance made of gypsum and other materials that covered the buildings, was a celebration of progress and a brash ode to capitalism. After almost two years of leaving coaster fans hanging in suspense, Busch Gardens finally announced that its intense new hybrid coaster Iron Gwazi will open in March of next year. A woman sustained injuries Sunday at Cedar Point, where part of the Top Thrill Dragster fell and hit her. "At approximately 4:30 (p.m.), a small metal object became disengaged from a train on the Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster as it was ending its run," spokesman Tony Clark told the Register. A man fell off the Sky Ride at Lagoon early Saturday evening and an emergency medical crew took him to a hospital, but the park said it has "no reason to believe there was a malfunction with the ride." A photo taken before the fall, sent to 2News by Victoria Taylor, showed the man clinging to the ride, dangling above the park. One of Kings Islands’ original attractions is closing for the rest of the 2021 season after this weekend. Park officials announced that the park’s Eiffel Tower will close after this weekend’s operations so that crews can begin repainting the structure.
