It's pretty much a yearly occurrence these days -- some amusement park is setting a new roller coaster record. Maybe it's for speed. Maybe it's for a special design feature. But since 1979, The Beast at Kings Island in Ohio has held tightly onto the record as the world's longest wooden coaster. The Beast apparently isn't going to rest on its laurels though. More change apparently is in store for the 2022 season at Conneaut Lake Park. Kings Island will kick off its 50th Anniversary season next month with a daylong birthday party, then launch a summer-long celebration in late May. The 364-acre Warren County amusement park will open for passholders on April 15 and to the general public on April 16, the park announced. For Kings Island’s birthday on April 29, it will hold a daylong anniversary that will include special ceremonies and entertainment throughout the day and a special fireworks tribute to honor the park’s first 50 years. In July 2021 Fresno City officials hinted that there was a deal brewing between Fresno and what was described as a “major theme park,” rumored to be Six Flags. Fresno City Council President Luiz Chavez said at the time that, once the deal is finalized, the theme park could be completed in 18 to 24 months. Super Nintendo World, the Nintendo-based theme park, will open its first U.S. location at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023, Nintendo announced Thursday. Per the official announcement: The immersive land will be a visual spectacle of vibrant colors and architectural ingenuity located within a newly expanded area of the theme park, featuring a groundbreaking ride and interactive areas, to be enjoyed by the whole family.
