A bizarre accident forced Cedar Point's newest roller coaster to shut down for the day and possibly longer. A tire is to blame for the ride closing on Friday, August 10, 2018. Cedar Point's communications director Tony Clark tells MLive the tire which detached was not actually on one of the coaster's trains. "A rubber tire from the ride's drive system, located inside the track and not on the train itself, detached from its motor," Clark said. "The ride stopped as designed and all riders were escorted off without incident. We hope to have the ride back up and running soon." FULL STORY MASON, OH
The teasing has begun. Cedar Fair, owner of Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, may be dropping hints that something big may soon be announced, possibly even a reborn Son of Beast. That is according to speculation by coaster enthusiast groups, the Kings Island Central Forum, and r/rollercoasters on Reddit. The Instagram group Emotional Rollercoasters has just posted a photo of a flier its members say was put up in the past few days around the Cedar Point amusement park in Northern Ohio. "Number 5 is alive!" That's what cryptic poster says, apparently referencing the defunct Son of Beast, which was torn down in 2012 after a decade of troubles and injuries to riders. The launch building for Son of Beast (which still remains and is used for Halloween Haunt) was called "Outpost 5." FULL STORY LOUISVILLE, KY

The 22,445 spaces at the Kentucky Exposition Center are available on a “first come first serve” basis. But attorneys for Kentucky Kingdom argue in a lawsuit filed July 11 that the state departments – including the Kentucky State Fair Board – have restricted parking for park patrons by granting “exclusive” use to the Kentucky State Fair midway operator and other tenants of the expo center.
