Local neighborhoods might be shutting down Halloween events but you and your kids can still go trick-or-treating and more at Busch Gardens. The theme park’s Halloween Harvest event includes socially distant trick-or-treating and pumpkin scavenger hunts. There will be 15 roller coasters and rides open and a variety of kid-friendly attractions up and operating. With a scary virus going around, Busch Gardens delayed the opening of Howl-O-Scream, its annual Halloween after-hours event. The 2020 version of Howl-O-Scream is full of face masks, social distancing and some cheeky jokes and scares to lighten the mood. The event has 10 open-air scare zones instead of a mix of haunted houses and scare zones as in years past. It was nice not to wait in long lines for a haunted house, but scare actors couldn’t get in your face, so the scare level is reduced to a simmer. Also, the wait time for riding the coasters seemed longer than usual for a Howl-O-Scream night. FULL STORY If you make a hit movie, even if it's not popular with the critics, then there's a good chance that it will leave a legacy. Popular movies stand the test of time. However, there's one way that a movie property can potentially live on that might be ever greater than the movie itself: the theme park attraction. I've spoken to many people who have seen characters they created brought to life in theme parks as either full attractions or simply walk-around characters, and there is clearly something special about seeing it all brought to life as a tangible thing that people can touch and experience in a more personal and visceral way.

Eureka Police are investigating claims that a St. Louis teenager who was involved in a fight at the Six Flags amusement park went to the parking lot to get a gun from a car. In addition, authorities are trying to sort out where weapons found in a car in the parking lot came from, Capt. David Wilson said. At about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6, police got a report that the 17-year-old St. Louis man allegedly was seen with a gun inside a 2002 Monte Carlo parked outside the park at 4900 Six Flags Road in Eureka, the report said. The American Dream Mall is back in business. The New Jersey mega-mall is reopening its indoor amusement park, water park, ice rink and mini-golf arcade. Many retail stores, attractions and restaurants will remain closed, but several others will be open. To ensure safety, the theme park and the water park will be at 25% capacity, there will also be hand sanitizing stations and Plexiglas throughout the 3.3 million square foot property. You can now make a piece of an iconic Kings Island roller coaster your very own. The Mason amusement park said Tuesday it will sell slices of track from the now-demolished steel roller coaster Vortex. The coaster operated in the amusement park from 1987 through the 2019 season. FULL STORY |
