Yesterday was the first time the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks re-opened to the public. I went with a friend, to enjoy the parks from 8 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Universal Orlando, along with many other locations in Florida, require guests to wear face coverings in the parks. While many of us have worn a mask in a grocery store for about 30 minutes, this endeavor was entirely different. And, somewhat more difficult than I originally anticipated. A day after Kings Island filed a lawsuit seeking to reopen, Gov. Mike DeWine announced a reopening date for Ohio's casinos, racinos, amusement parks and water parks.
DeWine announced these entertainment venues can reopen in two weeks -- on June 19. The governor acknowledged that these entertainment venues have come up with elaborate plans to keep everyone safe and he said he wants Ohioans to enjoy their summer. DeWine announced Thursday that entertainment venues across Ohio, such as zoos, museums, movie theaters and more can reopen beginning on Wednesday. FULL STORY MASON, OH
Kings Island sued Thursday to reopen its amusement and water park off Interstate 71 in Warren County. The lawsuit names Dr. Amy Acton in her official capacity as the director of the Ohio Department of Health and the Warren County Health District. It asks a judge to order the immediately reopening of amusement parks and water parks and to prevent Acton from closing them again in the future. Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor have announced plans to reopen the waterpark on June 18 and the theme park on June 19. In accordance with Governor Abbott’s reopening guidelines for amusement parks, both locations will operate at reduced attendance levels and in preview mode from June 19 to 21 at Six Flags Over Texas and June 18 to 21 at Hurricane Harbor. With Universal Studios Orlando reopening, the Orlando heat decided to come along as well! While practicing social distancing and extra health precautions, wearing a mask all day might start to take a toll on you. Universal Orlando team members have been getting a preview of the theme parks yesterday and today ahead of this week’s reopening. Since we have guests in the park, that also means we’re getting our first on-the-ground photos of the Jurassic Coaster in months! By all accounts, the annual event is not only still a “go”, but they’ve been building the houses behind-the-scenes as usual while the parks have been closed.

A man driving erratically and attempting to hit a Six Flags Magic Mountain employee and other vehicles was arrested Saturday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to reports of a suspicious person in the Magic Mountain parking lot around 4:30 p.m., according to station spokeswoman Shirley Miller. “A male adult allegedly was driving erratically and attempting to hit other vehicles,” Miller said. Spaceship Earth will reportedly reopen when EPCOT reopens on July 15, according to a new report. The Local 362 Union — the union representing Attractions, Custodial, and Vacation Planning Cast Members at Walt Disney World — reportedly shared in a meeting today that Spaceship Earth will be reopening when Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park reopens on July 15, and the refurbishment has apparently been postponed indefinitely.
