The pink and yellow brick building on Forsyth Street almost screams at people as they drive through downtown Jacksonville. Inside is a world of animatronics — superheroes and dinosaurs, skeletons and zombies, creatures and cartoon characters — that Sally Corp. quietly creates unknown to much of the public.
“I’ve driven past Sally over a thousand times and never really knew what was going on in here and never really thought about it,” said Rebecca Patel, one of a few dozen people given a recent “Behind the Themes” tour. “When I saw it, I thought wow, that’s pretty neat and fantastic that this is right here in Jacksonville.”
Sally Corp., a garage-based company of 41 employees, specializes in “dark rides” at theme parks where spectators can sit in a vehicle and go through a building where there are often interactive features such as a blaster/target games or 3D scenes.
